GE Rangr / Phoenix / Delta
The Phoenix, Rangr and Delta radios were the workhorse of the American Midwest for almost two decades. Although still in widespread commercial use, many have since been retired from government service and can now been found in the hands of amateur radio operators. They can be great radios on the 6 meter, 2 meter and 60 cm bands. With excellent audio quality and rugged construction these radios are still sought-after by many amateur operators.
The major drawback for these radios was that they required a GE 'suitcase' type radio programmer, which was both rare and expensive.
RFguys' Parallel Port X2212 chip programmer adds the convenience of user-programmability to the GE Phoenix, Rangr and Delta radios.
